Rebecca Williams

Workforce Development Project Coordinator

Dip. Teaching

Previous Experience:
My professional life began as a teacher. Since leaving teaching in 1989 I have gained knowledge and experience in event management, information consultancy and public health. My career in health began in 1998 as the co-ordinator for the Safe Routes to School programme at Safekids (the Child Injury Prevention Service, Starship Children’s Hospital). In 2001 I took on the role of Executive Director at Alcohol Healthwatch, a non-government organisation dedicated to reducing alcohol-related harm. As well as managing the organisation and a small health promotion team, I have led a number of collaborative projects and inter-sectoral planning initiatives aimed at building community and sector capacity and capability, advancing effective policy and raising awareness.

Current role:
This is a three-year project which is focussed on co-ordinating the development of a strategic framework and action plan to develop a sustainable primary health care workforce that is ready and able to meet the needs of Northlanders.
